The cutter head is equipped at the forefront of the cutter suction dredger. Since the dredging process begins with excavation and mud generation, the performance of a cutter suction dredger is mainly determined by its cutter head.
According to the use and working environment, the cutter head can be divided into multi-function cutter head, loose sand cutter head, light rock cutter head, cutter head with cutting edge and other customized cutter heads.
The multi-purpose cutter head is the most commonly used cutter head for suction dredges because of its replaceable tooth system. It can be equipped with pick-up points, narrow or flared chisels, depending on the soil encountered in the specific area. The replaceable tooth system is designed for easy replacement of teeth after wear, using a simple and effective locking system. The size of the teeth depends on the size of the cutter head.
